7 Meaningful Things To Do While Social Distancing

Social distancing; It can be an introverts dream, and an extroverts nightmare.  Regardless, social distancing and self-isolation can be tough mentally on most people. Humans are naturally social beings so being stuck at home with little social contact can be very testing on most of us.

But self-isolation doesn’t have to mean a lack of productivity, and there are plenty of meaningful ways to pass the time while social distancing that will benefit you in the long run. A few ways you can spend your time impact-fully during social distancing include:

  • Home exercise – You don’t have to get to the gym to have a great exercise session. Plenty of online videos or virtual classes are out there to teach yoga, Pilates, aerobics, and weight training, so you can get your exercise in even when the gym is closed. Some of these exercises are even perfect for doing while you’re binge watching that latest Netflix series.
  • Get creative with photobooks – Photobooks are the new photo album, and they allow you to take your digital photos and put them into print in a really unique way. These can be made using already existing templates, or they can be done completely from your creative eye. This is the perfect time to get creative with those holiday snaps from last year.
  • Put your wanderlust to use – If you’ve been cooped up, you’re probably really itching to get out. While we may not be able to travel now, that doesn’t mean you can’t get planning for when travel does open up again. Seek out new destinations, learn about new adventures, and plan your dream trip for when all of this blows over.
  • Learn a language – While you’re entertaining yourself at home, why not use the time to learn something new? Learning a new language helps you personally and professionally, and there are plenty of free apps that focus on making language learning easy.
  • Video chat with friends – It’s understandable to have an insatiable urge to reach out while in social isolation, and technology has made doing so safer and easier than ever. If you’re itching to catch up with friends and family, start a video chat or use some great apps such as House Party. House Party is a mobile app that allows you to video chat with a group of friends and play online games with each other.
  • Get cooking – Restaurants are closed and takeout will only take you so far, so why not get cooking? Learning new recipes and new cooking techniques will keep you occupied now with skills you’ll continue using forever.
  • Start a new project or side hustle  – if you have been putting off that online course or perhaps starting a side hustle, now is the perfect time to do just that!  Make sure you check out our new online businesses for sale if you are stuck for a business idea!  Or we offer a free training video that helps you uncover the perfect business for you based on your personality so check it out here
