When you’re in business for yourself, there’s a temptation to go the extra mile, put in some longer hours or “burn that midnight oil” on a regular basis. And when you’re in poor health, you’re either in no condition to enjoy the good finance, or the good finance now has to be spent on your restoring your health. If you don’t want that to happen, here are a few easy ways to keep your health—and entrepreneurial drive—in top shape.

Don’t Ignore Sleep

It’s easy to think “there aren’t enough hours in the day” to finish what you want, but do not underestimate the value of sleep. Sleep recharges both your physical and mental batteries, so if you hate it when your phone runs out of energy in the middle of the day, how will you feel if it’s your ability to make quick, smart decisions that’s suddenly run out on you?

Schedule Exercise

Everyone says they should exercise, but one good way to ensure it happens is to make time for it in your daily schedule. Physical fitness will give you the energy to keep working at top efficiency for longer periods. Take the time to get fitter so you can live longer and work harder.

Get Fit When & Where You Can

The opportunities to exercise are everywhere, you just have to be willing to take up the challenge. If you live in the middle of downtown, think about biking to appointments or the office. If your workspace has room for some kind of exercise machine, try putting in a treadmill or elliptical and use it in periodic, 10 minute bursts throughout the day. Just because you’re working, doesn’t mean you have to be confined to a desk for all your activities.
